Happy New Year, Multiplied By Twenty-Four
You don’t get to choose when to get the flu. It chooses you. I know this, because it chose me this weekend. While most people were heading out to get drunk, sloshed, wasted, and poop-faced for New Year’s Eve, I knew that I’d be spending mine at home in my pajamas. And that's where I was; sitting in my ergonomic chair clutching a box of tissues, a hot cup of tea, and my computer. Did I just say that I was clutching my computer? Silly me. I meant to say that I was holding it firmly.
Do not weep for me. I really wanted a good excuse to play video games for an entire weekend anyway. Who wouldn’t want an opportunity for weekend like that? But playing video games alone didn’t seem right on such a social holiday. I knew that people were ringing in the New Year from all over the world. And that’s where I got this bright idea to spend it in an MMORPG. A place where people who lead lives that were just as exciting as mine, seem to collect on major holidays. On one hand, it sort of screams, "Hello! I'm at home on the biggest party night of the whole year!" And on the other hand, it's cool to be in contact with other people from around the world, bringing in the new year.
So about that whole "New Years Around The Globe" thing... for every hour on the hour, people are repeating the same phrase over and over. It's really cute; cute, for the first three times that it happens. But New Years doesn't end in three hours. It goes all day long, and into the next.
It began on Saturday morning, and this small phrase marked the beginning of many that I’d see online over the next twenty-four hours. I'd say that it started out innocent enough. “Happy New Year, my dear friend!” someone said to me in an instant message. Oh how sweet! Hey wait a minute… do I know that guy?
There is something about New Years that compels people to repeat it to every single person that they come across.
“Happy New Year!”
Thanks. Same to you.
Thanks again for that.
Yes. I know.
Ring in the Auld Lang Syne, or whatever you want to call it. Sure, I’m happy to see 2006 go as much as the next person. I’ve been ready to see it gone ever since I’ve gotten so used to writing it on my checks… some time last month. But now there is a part of me in my secret put away heart that says, “Hurry up and get here, Tuesday!” I'm tired of people wishing me Happy New Year.
Oh shut up allready.

Not only did I not hang out with friends for the new year, I made up excuses not to. I feel like a loser for it, but jeez I wasn't in the mood.
I stayed home and played World of Warcraft instead. Such a geek. ;d

My parents kidnapped me so I couldn't spend it at home and worse have no access to the internet. At least there was tons and tons of firework, boring people at home don't light that much.

Sorry to hear. If it's any consolution, I got sicker than I've been in years this weekend right before I had to take a flight. & when I say sick, I mean of the physical persuasion.

Did WoW do anything new for the holidays this year? Or just more reindeer pets and snowmen costume things? I haven't logged on in a couple of weeks.
I sat around with a friend and played console games for new years. Mad exciting.

I spent New Year's Eve running a game of Kobolds Ate My Baby.
We missed the actual countdown to 2007 due to the incident with the dog, the spiked pit trap, and the kobold player that was 'in heat'.
Woof.

Wow did fireworks in Stormwind, and drinks and what not.
I watched it around 7pm, then got back to leveling an alt - great way to ring in the new year, right?

Certainly you ignore their soft baked goods of rice which could only be given by deep souls.

I see that Alihja was not, in fact, scared off by the onslaught of newbie cyber solicitation...much like the bus stations where pimps prey on young runaway girls...and is still playing Second Life.

No. That stuff is funny. I have yet to post my screenshots of the great giant green penis grid attack.
It was an object that replicated itself, and those objects also replicated themselves. And so on, and so on.
In a game with complete player freedom to create anything... people will take it to the outer limits.

You should stop by and see my Zoo! Imagination Breeding is the name of it, you can find it in the places tab. I very rarely play anymore, I keep my account for customer service purposes...that and the few hundred extra bucks I make each month.
I'll send you some monkeys if you IM me in game.
